Dénouement…

It’s my day off after working seven days in a row. Rain and an incredible Stella’s breakfast in Osbourne Village with a co-worker eased the feeling I was missing assignments. I’ve felt more at home here the last few weeks. Perhaps that magic three month mark kicked in. Perhaps just discovering the right spots. Perhaps the knowledge that it will drift away in my rearview mirror Wednesday morning… But this has been good. Challenges and successes combined, I feel accomplished and honourned to have worn the Free Press ID  while documenting the stories that unfolded through summer-2010.

Here are a few random shots from the past while:

(Above) Winnipeg-based New Flyer Industries is one of North America’s largest bus manufactures. Like a scene from a sci-fi movie, painters go to work in this enclosed chamber along the assembly line.

(Above) Mike Branconnier is among the fringe Winnipegers getting into this balancing act. Branconnier, pictured outside the Manitoba Legislature, has been riding unicycles for nine years.

I recently visited a skatepark at The Forks to find a shot for a story on the new report slamming caffeine-loaded drinks. (Above) Mike Harris (center), Shawn Shaddix and Ryder Headly (airborne) delivered the perfect photo-op.

Media turned to mush August 28th, as the Winnipeg Police Service introduced eight of its newest recruits. (Above) Constable Dennis Robert at the press conference with two of the police puppies born July 11th.
