Last week, I travelled to Toronto with Record reporter Jeff Outhit. We met Bill McCormick, 91, who lead a troop of 15 men and three tanks during the Normandy D-Day landing when he was 24 years-old. The men helped liberate at least one village before their four day war came to an end.
We spent about two hours there, talking, laughing and pausing in the memories. I like Bill. A lot. Thank you to everyone who dared to set foot on those beaches that day. I’m certain I wouldn’t be here if they hadn’t.
